Pick up from Kilimanjaro airport or your hotel if you are joining us after climbing Kilimanjaro. Drive to your hotel in Arusha and check in and drive into Arusha town to explore. Arusha City is situated at the foot of Mount Meru and it is the most famous city as a gateway to the Northern Safari circuit. You will overnight at Arusha.
After a delicious breakfast, we departed from Arusha for the two hour drive to Tarangire National Park. On the way to Tarangire we passed Maasai villages and got our first look at the vast, open plains that you think of when you picture Africa. We also had time to become accustomed to the open-top jeep we’d be spending the next few days in. Upon arrival at Tarangire National Park, it was everything we expected and more! Let’s just say, be prepared to see a lot of elephants!! The park is famous for its high density of elephants and baobab trees. You will reach at Karatu for your overnight stay with dinner.
After breakfast, we proceed to Serengeti, Tanzania's oldest and most popular national park and famed for its annual migration, when some six million hooves pound the open plains, as more than 200,000 zebras and 300,000 Thomson's gazelle join the wildebeest’s trek for fresh grazing. Yet even when the migration is quiet, the Serengeti offers a remarkable game-viewing experience in Africa.
After breakfast you will start the safari by being transferred to the central part of the Serengeti. Here your driver will try to find the animals you're the most interested in. Closer to lunch time you will visit the Serengeti Visitor Centre, where you will be offered a lunchbox and provided with lots of interesting information not only about the animals’ populations, but also about the history of the National Park. Also, in this area you will be able to see hyraxes, which are the elephant's closest relatives.
We start with an early morning game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. high walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, and various species of birds. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley, with the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Then you will reach for your overnight stay with dinner.
In the morning after breakfast around 7:30 AM your safari guide will arrive at the hotel. After meeting up with your driver you will travel to Lake Manyara National Park, and by 10:00 AM you will already be on your first safari! The entire territory of this park is cut through with ground water streams that provide a favourable environment for plants and, in addition, for a multitude of birds (including pink flamingos) and African forest animals. After safari will continue Arusha for overnight and dinner.
Should be breakfast in a hotel in Arusha and prepare for a transfer to the airport…
When it comes to trekking and safari, Tanzania really does have it all. It is the kind of place which experienced safari and trekking hands could easily visit for or five times, but it also makes for a fantastic first-time Safari.
